Eastern Europe is a region lying in the Eastern part of Europe. The term is highly Low context culture and even volatile, as there are "almost as many definitions of Eastern Europe as there are scholars of the region". A related UN paper adds that "every assessment of spatial identities is essentially a social and cultural construct".

One prevailing definition describes Eastern Europe as a cultural (and econo-cultural) entity: the region lying between Central Europe and Western Asia, with main characteristics consisting in Byzantine, Orthodox and limited Ottoman influences. Western advocates of this view include the OECD, the World Bank, and US VP Joe Biden.

Another definition, considered outdated by an increasing number of authors, was created during the Cold War and used more or less synonymously with the term Eastern Bloc, including the countries that historically and geographically belong to Central Europe. A similar definition names the formerly Communist European states outside the Soviet Union as Eastern Europe. These are also described as the constituents of Central and Eastern Europe.

What are some stereotypes of Eastern European people?
Q. What are some stereotypes of Eastern European people? I am just wondering. I don't think I know any Eastern European people, and where I live there aren't many people who know any either. So I am wondering, what are some stereotypes of Eastern European people? I mean, for example, Russians, Bulgarians, Serbians, etc.

A. Ooh I'm Eastern Euro! I would think most see us as communist, poor, bitter, very close-minded, very religious (especially the Orthodox ones), very nationalistic (we all hate our neighbors, even if we have similar cultures/ancestry). The women are stereotyped as being very overly elegant, opportunistic (gold diggers), but beautiful. The men are stereotyped as being short tempered, very macho, control the household, stubborn, proud, loud, rude, and maybe they're alcoholics too?

Why doesn't the European Union quickly try to make many of the Eastern European states members?
Q. Couldn't they increase the size of the EU greatly by doing this? So, why don't they capitalize on the fear that the Eastern European countries are showing towards a new, powerful, Russia?

2 questions regarding eastern european nobility and social/labor movement?
Q. 1. Why did the eastern european nobility find it advisable to allow decisive power to accrue to the crown. What was the relationship between the nobility and common people. (All one question) 2. Describe and contrast the rise of the labor movement and socialism in Germany and Britain before 1914

A. The first is an opinion question. To answer it you'll need to review your lecture notes to give the opinion that your instructor presented. The second is an attempt to compare and contrast the two movements in two exceptionally different cultures. Again, your notes should guide you in writing the essay because points will come from hitting the major points of the lecture and putting them together in a coherent essay. If we give you our thoughts, you're likely to lose points by having essays that don't match the lecture point-by-point.
